Dear friends, I wanted to check in before the year turns — not with a tidy update, but with an honest snapshot of where I am right now. I’m so grateful that you’re here with me. This month has brought an invigorating amount of relief. The surgeries are done and went well — the last ones I know of in this journey — and the lawsuit is finally behind me. With that comes a deep exhale I knew I needed, I just didn’t realize how much. There’s still a long road ahead, but it feels… open. Not easy — but possible.
At the same time, December has asked more of me than I expected — physically, emotionally, and in the quiet in-between spaces I don’t always know how to name. I’m writing this from a body still very much in recovery, learning new rhythms and asking for more care than usual — including a nervous system that feels worn thin and in need of gentleness. It’s been disorienting to hold both relief and depletion at the same time — calm on the surface, and also a nervous system at its wits’ end from everything it’s carried. I’ve been reminded that healing isn’t just about repairing tissue — it’s about learning what I can carry, and what I need help holding. This month has been tender and demanding, yes. And it’s also carried a flicker of excitement and optimism I didn’t quite expect — a sense that something has shifted, even as I move slowly forward. As December winds down, I find myself holding a strange mix of relief, exhaustion, gratitude, and uncertainty — all shaped by a month that didn’t unfold the way I imagined.
