This month has felt like a slow turning — a mix of appointments, small joys, heaviness, clearing out what no longer fits, and preparing (again) for surgery. November held more transition than I expected: shifting routines, shifting weather, shifting inner landscape. I kept thinking I’d write sooner, but I needed to move through it first. If I’ve learned anything lately, it’s that the emotional work of recovery can take as much energy as the physical. Some days felt steady. Others felt like bracing. And all of it was true. As is often the case, the words didn’t arrive all at once. They showed up after a lot of listening. In my previous newsletter, I wrote about reaching the three-year mark — a moment that brought both clarity and tenderness. I shared that I’d written two companion reflections: one on the practical lessons of self-advocacy, and one on the bigger picture — the emotional mosaic that’s formed through these years of healing. The advocacy piece went out first. The mosaic piece took its time. I kept circling around it, rewriting, waiting for it to feel “finished”… until I remembered that healing isn’t tidy, and neither is the meaning-making that comes with it. As the month unfolded, the words finally settled into place. Today, I’m ready to share it.
